Local talk radio host and conservative activist Dan Proft is headed for an even larger stage.

The “Chicago's Morning Answer” host was set this week to ease into his new role as the voice of the nationally syndicated show once filled by former Illinois Congressman Joe Walsh, who recently launched his 2020 Republican primary campaign against President Donald Trump. Proft, whose “Morning Answer” show is co-hosted by Amy Jacobson, was set to officially begin in his syndicated role on Jan. 2.

In a statement, Salem Radio Network Senior Vice President Phil Boyce described Proft, a principal in Local Government Information Services, which owns this publication, as “incredibly intelligent, insightful and full of knowledge.”

Walsh took to Twitter, where Crain’s Chicago Business reports that he wished Proft all the best in a direct message. “He’s a talented guy and he’s very good on the radio,” Walsh added. “He’ll do well.”

A former Republican candidate for governor in the 2010 election cycle, Proft’s “Morning Answer” is heard by an audience of more than two million listeners on Salem Radio Network, according to the show’s website. Proft’s political commentary segment known as “60 Seconds of Sanity” has long been one of the most popular parts of the show.
